*Thursday, March 25*
Today was a BIG day. We loaded the kids and all of their cowboy gear (hats, bandanas and vests that I hid away in the trailer and toy horses and sheriffs badges that Grammie gave them yesterday) into the rig and drove out to Goldfield, an old mining town.
The kids were in awe of the town. It is full of old mining equipment and has a horse corral, a place to pan for gold, an old rail car and rail road that circles the town, a general store, hat shop, ice cream parlor and a “mystery house” where water and marbles run uphill because the house, due to an earthquake, was no longer standing straight AND with no windows to give you a reference point of up or down, it appeared that things were defying gravity. The boys loved it but, it made Grammie sick to her stomach.
We did it ALL, including a tour down into the mines and a train ride. The kids thought that they were pretty cool dressed up in all their cowboy stuff. They loved every minute of it - until the last couple of pictures. I think that they were getting tired of posing...I just didn't want to miss out on any opportunities to get the BIG Wild West moment captured. Okay, enough pictures. :)
After a FULL morning and big ice cream cones followed by big lunches (yup, I typed the order right) Paul and his dad spent the afternoon driving back to Prescott to pick up the Tin Tent while Carla and I took the kids back to the pool for a long swim.
It was a hot, dry day and all three boys agreed that Goldfield truly WAS the Wild West. We found it!
Yeehaw!! :)
